The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts. The university strongly encourages nominations of, as well as applications from, individuals traditionally underrepresented in the academy.

As the chief executive officer of the College of Fine and Applied Arts, the Dean provides creative, effective and collaborative leadership in the planning and implementation of the university's research, teaching, and public engagement missions. The Dean is a visionary leader who partners with the College's faculty, students, and staff to advance creative practice and scholarship; prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion; and communicate the significance of the College's contributions to the community, the state and the wider world. The Dean is an advocate for the College in the context of both the campus and the variety of publics that Illinois, a preeminent land- grant research university with a global mission, seeks to engage.

The ideal candidate will possess superb leadership skills; outstanding administrative, budgetary, and fundraising experience; a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; and an ability to manage the challenges of undergraduate, graduate, and professional education in a complex university environment. Candidates whose backgrounds are in a university setting should hold a terminal degree and have a distinguished record of teaching and scholarly or research accomplishments. Candidates whose backgrounds are in a professional setting should have a distinguished record of professional accomplishments and demonstrate an understanding of and investment in scholarly achievement and a familiarity with the academic enterprise. Additionally, a proven record of achievement, commensurate with an appointment at the rank of full professor, is required. The position of College of Fine and Applied Arts Dean is a senior administrative position with a seat on the Provost's Council of Deans. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with a negotiable start date and salary will be commensurate with experience.

The College comprises the Schools of Architecture, Art and Design, and Music; the Departments of Dance, Landscape Architecture, Theatre, and Urban and Regional Planning; Krannert Center for the Performing Arts; Krannert Art Museum; and Japan House. On a campus of approximately 43,000 students, the College has 180 tenure-system faculty, 70 specialized faculty, a large professional staff, and a current enrollment of 1,670 undergraduate and 811 graduate students. The College offers baccalaureate, advanced certificate, masters and doctorate degrees in academic and professional studies.
