DAMLI Curatorial Fellowship

This project is made possible, in part, through the Diversifying Art Museum Leadership Initiative (DAMLI), funded by the Walton Family Foundation and the Ford Foundation.
The DAMLI Curatorial Fellow at PAMM will participate in public program development related to our exhibitions and work with Chief Curator Tobias Ostrander and Deputy Director for Education Adrienne Chadwick with the direction of Director Franklin Sirmans. The Fellow will work with PAMM’s curatorial and education staff in all phases of public program development, symposiums, timed-based art exhibition development, and community outreach and audience research/evaluations.

• The Fellow will work on at least two major projects at PAMM over the 2 year period.
• The Fellow will generate at least 4 written pieces for curatorial / education to use.
• The Fellow will initiate at least two new community partnerships in pursuit of deeper community engagement in exhibitions, programs and/or collections.

Qualifications:
• The DAMLI Curatorial Fellowship at PAMM is offered to students who have recently completed their studies at the graduate level in Art History or a related field. The museum encourages applications from members of historically underrepresented groups in the curatorial and museum profession, including art history students who are members of racial and/or ethnic minority groups, are differently abled, or are from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.

Successful candidates will demonstrate interest and expertise in a curatorial focus of their choice in modern and contemporary art that reflects Greater Miami’s diverse community and pivotal geographic location at the crossroads of the Americas.

Candidates must submit a letter of interest that includes an outline of the candidate’s proposed curatorial focus; a resume; three academic or museum references; and a short writing sample.

Applications will be reviewed by an internal committee of PAMM staff, with short-listed candidates considered by a broader panel that may include external reviewers drawn from Miami’s community of academics and curators in the field. PAMM hopes to select the first Curatorial Fellow by the end of November 2017, with the successful candidate joining PAMM in January 2018.
