The Morgan Library & Museum seeks an experienced and dynamic curator to lead its Department of Literary and Historical Manuscripts (LHMS). The Department Head will oversee a notable collection of primarily handwritten documents spanning more than 500 years, including major collections on prominent literary figures. The successful candidate will develop creative and engaging exhibitions and programs, produce publications; manage, build and care for one of the finest manuscript collections in the world; and communicate the excitement of this work and the importance of the Morgan to the public, potential donors, collectors, stakeholders and the press. OPPORTUNITIES: Work in a senior, endowed position at renowned, accredited AAMD museum with significant resources; curate exhibitions, conduct research, publish, make acquisitions. RESPONSIBILITIES: Organize original exhibitions based on the collection; develop public programs, events. Oversee and prioritize care, research, storage, cataloging and conservation of collection. Ensure collection access across appropriate platforms, support researchers. Cultivate and secure patronage for the LHMS Department, working with Director and staff. Build networks with a wide range of stakeholders. Make strategic acquisitions.  Supervise small staff. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 7 years’ experience working with rare book/literary manuscript collections, MA or equivalent in relevant field or in Library and Information Science, PhD preferred. French or other European language desirable. Experience cataloging and digitizing manuscript materials an asset. Familiarity with TMS and/or Voyager desirable.
