Current Opportunities
Executive Director
The Galleries at Kean (https://galleries.kean.edu/) have expanded significantly in the past ten years. On a beautiful campus, there are seven exhibition spaces and the Executive Director (ED) and staff are responsible for exhibitions in five of the galleries twice a year. The Galleries at Kean each have a different focus but carry out the mission, which is a belief that art can be an impactful vehicle for social change by building awareness of global issues.
Reporting to the Vice President for Arts Programming, the ED provides strategic leadership in all areas of operations, including oversight of the Liberty Hall Academic Center that houses the largest gallery, offices, archive and collections. The ED is responsible for managing the operation, programming and fundraising activities and works with the University’s academic units to identify, develop and promote learning opportunities for the Kean student body, as well as community members and invited guests.
The ED is responsible for leading strategic planning for the Center and Galleries and developing short-and long -term goals that support collaboration with other campus units.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, a minimum of six years of progressive experience in a museum or gallery, and curatorial experience as well as fundraising. The ED will provide a clear curatorial vision for the Galleries, build an Advisory Board and create a collaborative environment for the staff and other units on the campus.
