Manager of Corporate & Foundation Relations

Job Summary:

The Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations will be responsible for developing and implementing a solicitation strategy that includes prospect identification, cultivation, proposal writing, and stewardship. This role is a key member of the development team, contributing to strong donor relationships through attention to detail and high level of customer service. The Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations is also responsible for the management of certain aspects of donor events, managing donations, and handling of high-level donors.

 

Essential Functions:

Builds and implements a development plan to strengthen existing relationships and build new partnerships with corporations and foundations for Telfair Museums. Meets budget goals for corporate support and works collaboratively with senior writer and manager of marketing and public relations to provide leads on new foundation support and the submitting of renewals for grant funding.

 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Research, cultivate, and foster corporate clients and foundations for exhibitions, education, special events, and capital projects.
  • Develop long range planning for corporate fundraising campaigns.
  • Ensure fulfillment of all corporate benefits and ensure that donor recognition is accurate and updated in museum publications, website, donor wall, and other appropriate methods.
  • Independently write and edit solicitation letters, acknowledgement letters, copy for magazine, and special event related invitations.
  • Enter data, process, and acknowledge corporate gifts, grants, special event and program sponsorships, event tickets, auction donations and purchases and in-kind donations, etc. in accurate and timely fashion.
  • Enter gifts in database on day of receipt, applying appropriate gift coding.
  • Generate and print all gift-related correspondence accurately and to match the donor’s intent.
  • Ensure all correspondence is reviewed, signed, and sent within 3-4 days of gift receipt.
  • Flag key gifts (upgrades, first time DC, etc.) and email/highlight key gifts for senior staff follow up
  • Manage tribute and memorial gift processes.
  • Maintain master files of all gifts and acknowledgements.
  • Develop a streamline process for securing funding from foundations to include: identification, acquisition, and follow-up.
  • Work collaboratively with Senior Writer and Public Relations Manger on identifying and submitting proposals.
  • Draft reports and stewardship to foundations.
  • Act as department contact for Foundation Search database.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in database including prospect tracking and follow-up actions.
  • Manage special events and Ball-related actions not based in logistics of the event management.
  • Assist Ball Chair(s) and committee chairs on corporate fundraising, gift solicitation, and planning.
  • Coordinate with development team and committee on communications and gift tracking.
  • Run reports to reconcile with Finance department.
  • Other reports for Executive Director, Development Department, and other departments as needed.
  • Coordinate with Graphic Designer on new marketing pieces to recognize sponsors accordingly.
  • Assist in coordination and staffing of all museum programs and events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree required in professionally appropriate field
  • Two to three years of prior administrative/development work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to schedule and complete multiple short-term and long-term tasks within deadlines
  • Proactive work ethic: able to initiate and coordinate detailed work with colleagues
  • Professional and mature working style and ethical standards
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated collaborative mentality with museum constituencies and staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully with a broad range of people
  • Excellent customer service skills. Friendly and outgoing personality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting, standing occasionally for long periods of time, extensive use of computer and associated keyboarding, repetitive motion, reaching, climbing stairs, and walkin
  • Climbing stairs repeatedly throughout the workda
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends; some late evenings.
