The Museum of Art Fort Collins seeks a proven leader who can grow the organization,
strengthen partnerships, and guide its next phase of development as Executive Director. This is a defining leadership opportunity—not a maintenance role. The next Executive Director will guide a growing institution at a pivotal moment, shaping its future through fundraising, community engagement, and strategic vision.
Fort Collins is a vibrant and growing city with a strong arts ecosystem and deep civic engagement. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape how a community understands and values the arts while leading a meaningful period of institutional transformation. The next Executive Director will build partnerships across a dynamic landscape that includes Colorado State University, a thriving business community, and an evolving network of cultural organizations—positioning the museum as a central and visible force in the city’s and Northern Colorado’s creative life.
The Role
The Executive Director serves as the museum’s chief strategist, fundraiser, and public ambassador, leading efforts to:
- Grow audience, membership, and donor base
- Launch a major capital campaign and define a facility strategy
- Strengthen community partnerships and relevance
- Align board, staff, and organizational direction
- Position MoA’s role as a central cultural hub in Fort Collins
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Execute a 3–5 year vision focused on growth and sustainability
- Fundraising & Development: Lead major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and capital campaign efforts
- Community Engagement: Build partnerships across arts, business, and civic sectors
- Organizational Leadership: Support and develop staff; strengthen board alignment
- Programming Oversight: Ensure exhibitions and programs reflect the highest artistic quality and community relevance
- Operations & Finance: Oversee budget, revenue strategy, and facility planning
Qualifications
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a nonprofit or comparable organization
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor engagement
- Experience with financial management, operations, and organizational leadership
- Experience leading and developing staff and organizational culture
- Strong communication and public-facing skills
- Experience building community partnerships and external relationships
- Experience with capital campaigns, facility planning, or major growth initiatives preferred
- Background in arts, culture, or creative organizations preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $65,000–$80,000
