Summary of Position      

The Board of Directors of di Rosa is seeking an entrepreneurial, visionary, and highly-effective leader to serve as its next Executive Director. Di Rosa is dedicated to advancing public interest, knowledge, and understanding of the arts and artists of Northern California. The Executive Director will provide institutional and community leadership in the pursuit of di Rosa’s mission; meet financial and fundraising goals; implement the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan; and, enhance Di Rosa’s visibility, impact, and reputation.

About di Rosa

Located on 217 scenic acres in the Carneros region of Southern Napa County, di Rosa offers visitors refuge to view the art of the Bay Area in a singularly unique setting. The property includes three separate galleries, a sculpture park, a 35-acre lake, and wildlife preserve. Protected in perpetuity under the Napa County Land Trust, di Rosa is rich in flora and fauna, with open space that is home to a fascinating array of wildlife, native plant species, and di Rosa’s own peacocks.

Once the home of Rene and Veronica di Rosa, this 125-year-old winery-turned-residence houses hundreds of works of art. Di Rosa is internationally recognized as the most significant holding of Northern California art in the world.  The heart of the di Rosa collection includes modern and contemporary paintings, drawings, sculpture, and photographs by well-known Bay Area artists including William Allan, Robert Arneson, David Best, Joan Brown, Enrique Chagoya, Bruce Conner, Roy De Forest, Jay DeFeo, Paul Kos, Manuel Neri, and others.  The large courtyard and garden adjacent to the Historic Residence features numerous sculptures by Viola Frey, Robert Hudson, William T. Wiley, and more, along with views of Winery Lake and the neighboring vineyards.

About Napa

The city of Napa is the county seat of Napa County, California, located an hour’s drive north of San Francisco. Founded in 1847, Napa was a jumping off point for the 49ers bound for the gold rush. Today it is one of the most well known wine regions in the world, boasting more than 500 wineries, 95% of which are family-owned and operated. Complementing its renown as a wine region, Napa also has become a food capital with more Michelin star restaurants per capita than any other county in the nation. Responsibilities

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors of di Rosa Preserve and will have full authority and responsibility as the chief executive officer of di Rosa. Responsibilities include:

• Leading the implementation of the Strategic Plan for di Rosa to establish and maintain a sustainable business model, compelling visitor experience, strong operations, facilities, finances, and effective  marketing/communications

• Implementing educational programs, exhibits, and public programs characterized by innovation and high quality

• Developing and maintaining sound financial practices and managing di Rosa in a fiscally responsible manner within the Board-approved budget and in accordance with accepted non-profit financial accounting practices
• Increasing and diversifying di Rosa’s sources of revenue including earned and contributed income in support of di Rosa’s mission and goals, and maintaining productive relationships with donors and prospects

• Establishing and cultivating strong partnerships with groups and organizations in the Napa region and beyond and representing di Rosa to agencies, organizations, and the general public

• Establishing successful marketing and awareness of di Rosa as a regional and national destination

• Encouraging an organizational culture characterized by effective management and inspiration to di Rosa staff, Board, and volunteers

Experience/Education

A minimum five years of leadership and management experience in progressively more responsible positions, preferably in a museum setting. Possession of a Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A benefits package will also be provided.
