Current Opportunities

Deputy Director

Seeking a Deputy Director for the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis

Founded in 1980, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAM) evolved from a small gallery into a dynamic, internationally celebrated arts institution that inspires curiosity, creativity, and learning through experiences with contemporary art— exhibitions, public programs, educational initiatives and community collaborations. CAM’s architecturally significant building shares a courtyard with the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts and is located in the Grand Center Arts District. This vibrant and growing creative hub features 60+ arts and culture organizations, music and performance venues, multiple schools and a university, Sheldon Concert Hall, Fox Theater, many art galleries, restaurants and bars, the SLSO, the Kranzberg Arts Foundation and Jazz St. Louis.

We believe in the transformative power of art.

The mission of CAM is to create meaningful engagement with the most relevant and innovative art being made today. CAM is a non collecting institution and the only museum in the region solely dedicated to contemporary art.

CAM embraces diversity, practices equity, and ensures accessibility and inclusion. We continually strive to create a welcoming environment in all spaces, where staff, artists, board, and community are acknowledged and valued for their unique perspectives and backgrounds. DEAI values guide all decisions the museum makes. We have chosen a path toward ongoing transformation.

CAM is nimble, adaptive, and responsive, as vibrant and everchanging as the art we present. CAM is a seriously fun place for discovery and expression.

Every year CAM welcomes:
35,000 onsite visitors
210,000 virtual visitors
4,000 youth through its arts education partnerships

CAM is community-supported:
$3 million budget
$14 million endowment
