The President oversees all functions of the institution and provides leadership for all aspects of the operation and program and is the catalyst for exciting, innovative, and educationally sound programming and exhibitions that introduce ideas to audiences of all ages. The President will:
• Guide the vision of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History by overseeing the development of programs, exhibitions, and classes that reflect the Museum’s mission;
• Lead, inspire, and supervise a highly experienced team of senior staff; prioritize and assign work effectively, delegating appropriate levels of freedom and authority;
• Encourage development and creativity of staff at all levels;
• Work with staff, teachers, other Museum professionals, and undergraduate and graduate students regarding exhibitions, education programs, and professional museum standards and practices;
• Work with the Board and staff to administer and monitor both the annual and project budgets, demonstrate the business acumen to assure adequate control and accounting of all funds, and work with the Board to reduce the deficit;
• Working with the Board and Development staff, provide leadership in development by pursuing and expanding sources of funding through earned and contributed income and corporate and foundation funding;
• Guide marketing, audience development, and publicity of the Museum to raise awareness and visibility of all Museum programs for an expanding and diverse audience;
• Serve as an effective spokesperson for the Museum by representing the institution to community groups, business leaders, educational groups, government agencies, professional and related cultural organizations, and the general public;
• Collaborate with other cultural organizations in the area to create a strong regional identity for the Museum;
• Build a culture of transparency, collaboration, and team building;
• Update the Strategic Plan;
• Represent the Museum at national, state, and local levels to further FWMSH’s mission and enhance the Museum’s stature and visibility.
