Executive Director of LSU Museum of Art

LSU is inviting applicants for the next Executive Director of the LSU Museum of Art. The Executive Director will develop awareness and create relationships that will result in increased community engagement, private and institutional financial support, private/public partnerships and positive public recognition. Reporting to the Senior Vice Provost, the Executive Director will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting the value of the visual arts in a research university environment and in the diverse community beyond.

Job Responsibilities:

The Executive Director will demonstrate a record of or ability to:

Lead all facets of museum administration including finance, human resources, facilities, education curatorial, marketing, communications, and affiliated retail store.

Work in a fiscally responsible way while managing a complex budget.

Oversee facilities physical plant and artwork collection.

Be a visible and energetic spokesperson and ambassador for the Museum and LSU.

Provide leadership in Board cultivation, development, and management.

Lead efforts to secure external funding through donations, grants, and other revenue generating efforts by cultivating individual, corporate and foundation supporters.

Establish productive working relationships with the Senior Vice Provost and other administrators, the Museum staff, members of the LSU faculty including key relationships in the Department of Art + Art History, and other stakeholders.

Enhance the Museum's role as a teaching and research resource; ensure integration of exhibition and education objectives; build relationships with LSU's academic departments.

Collaboratively develop, communicate and implement vision for the LSU Museum of Art that aligns with the University's goals and mission.

Successfully guide an organization through strategic planning and accreditation processes.

Lead Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access initiatives.

Promote staff development.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience as a leader with increasing responsibilities within non-profit work with university knowledge and experience preferred.

Specific Experience -  Understanding of and demonstrated track record of developing and managing resources and a constituent base that provides the financial support necessary to nurture and grow a vibrant, educational and enriching regional university art museum.
