About The Richard H. Driehaus Museum
The Richard H. Driehaus Museum ("Driehaus Museum" or "Museum") explores the art, architecture, and design of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with a focus on the Gilded Age. The Museum's collection reflects and is inspired by the interests, vision and focus of its founder, the late philanthropist Richard H. Driehaus.
The Driehaus Museum is housed in the circa-1883 Samuel M. Nickerson Mansion and the adjacent historic Murphy Auditorium. Located just steps from the Magnificent Mile in Chicago, a city with a vibrant history of unparalleled innovation during the Gilded Age, the Museum has visitors from around the world, as well as a loyal following from local residents.
The Driehaus Museum's vision is to become a self-sustaining organization with a distinctive reputation for excellence in Chicago and around the world. The Museum works towards this vision and realizes its commitment to making decorative and fine arts more accessible through a variety of well-attended exhibits and programs.
The Opportunity
Building on the Museum's storied history, the next Executive Director ("ED") will provide visionary and strategic leadership to guide the organization's growth, visibility, impact, and relevance. As its most public ambassador, the ED will represent the Museum across the Chicago region and in the broader arts, historic preservation movement and philanthropic communities nationally and internationally.
Working with and overseeing a team of ten full time and nine part time staff, the Executive Director will provide ultimate leadership and oversight of strategy, programs, fundraising, events, advocacy efforts, finances, and operations.
