Position Focus:

The Project Manager will contribute to a variety of projects and programs that advance and grow the activities of the Academic Affairs, Education, and Research Division at the Yale Center for British Art (YCBA), a division committed to sharing and building knowledge about British art. Reporting to the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, Education, and Research, the Project Manager will be responsible for executing projects initiated by the Deputy Director. The Project Manager will design and oversee projects and programs in support of the division’s goal and strategy plan, conduct project-related research for the Deputy Director, establish timelines, produce writing, oversee the timely completion of deliverables, and collaborate with departments across the museum and other Yale units. This is a writing-intensive position in which the successful candidate will be expected to communicate clearly and effectively across disciplines and audiences.

The Project Manager will undertake a range of activities to drive forward divisional initiatives, including but not limited to course development, proposal and report writing, bibliographic work, publication development, and review and analysis of scholarly writing. More specifically, the candidate will devise the intellectual rubric, structure, and content of object-focused courses; teach and co-teach classes; undertake research into the museum’s holdings; and develop a variety of other projects that may take the shape of conferences, proposals, publications, or symposia. There will also be opportunities to work with students through teaching, the development of student-focused projects and initiatives, and the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.

The Yale Center for British Art houses the largest collection of British art outside the United Kingdom, encompassing works from the fifteenth century to the present in a range of media. The museum offers a vibrant, year-round program of events and exhibitions in person and online. Presented to the university by collector and philanthropist Paul Mellon (Yale College, Class of 1929), the museum opened to the public in 1977. Visit the YCBA at britishart.yale.edu.
