Salary Survey Instructions
The due date for the 2025 Salary Survey is Friday, June 6, 2025
To complete the survey:
- For best results use the most updated version of Google Chrome or Firefox. If you hare having any problems with the survey tool, please switch to one of those browsers.
- The survey is integrated into AAMD's website, so you must log in to aamd.org to access the survey.
- To log in, go to aamd.org and click "Member Login" at the top of the homepage (between Contact Us and Search).
- Once you are logged in, hover your mouse over where it says "Hi, [name]" at the top of the page.
- This will generate a dropdown menu - click "surveys" in that menu.
- Click “Take survey” under Salary Survey 2025
- Click the section you would like to complete to open survey questions.
- Click “Next” to navigate to the next section, or "previous" to navigate to the prior section. Do not use your browser back/forward arrows to navigate through the survey as you may lose data!
- Click the x in the top right of the survey box to return to the survey menu.
- You may complete questions in any order you like – it is not necessary to complete the survey chronologically.
- Mandatory questions are marked with a red asterisk*
- To save your work, click “Save for Later” on the bottom right. If you do not click Save for Later, your work has not been saved!! You can then return to the survey later or click “Continue taking saved survey” to enter more information into the survey.
To enter compensation information for each position in the survey:
- Salary figures reported should be based on salary ONLY, no benefits included.
- Click “Next” to navigate to the next section, or "previous" to navigate to the prior section. Do not use your browser back/forward arrows to navigate through the survey as you may lose data!
- Skip positions that do not apply or that have not been filled in your museum in the last fiscal year.
- Not every staff member in our institution needs to be reflected in your survey response! Museum organizational structures vary and there is a chance, depending on your institutional size, that there will be positions at your institution that are not reflected in the survey.
- Full-Time Employees: enter the number of full-time employees in this position; if none, leave blank. This should be a whole number. Employees working 30 or more hours per week or 130+ hours per month should be counted as full time. Do not include staff managed by an outside vendor or contract.
- Highest FY24 Full-Time Salary: Enter the highest FY2024 salary paid to an employee in this position. Use full-time salaries only; if a position is split, use the most appropriate position and salary. Do not include staff managed by an outside vendor or contract.
- Lowest FY24 Full-Time Salary: Do not enter data here unless there is more than one employee in this position. If there is more than one employee in this position, enter the lowest FY2024 salary paid to a full-time employee in this position.
- Mean (Average) FY24 Full-Time Salary: Enter the mean salary earned by a full-time employee or employees in this role in the indicated fiscal year. Only complete this field if more than two employees held this role. Do not include staff managed by an outside vendor or contract.
- Part-Time Employees: enter the number of part-time employees in this position; if none, leave blank.. This should be a whole number. Employees working 30 or more hours per week or 130+ hours per month should be counted as full time; anyone working less should be counted as part-time. Do not include staff managed by an outside vendor or contract.
- Highest FY24 Part-Time Hourly Rate: Enter the highest FY2024 hourly rate paid to a part-time employee in this position.
- Lowest FY24 Part-Time Hourly Rate: Do not enter data here unless there is more than one employee in this position. If there is more than one employee in this position, enter the lowest FY2024 hourly rate paid to a part-time employee in this position.
- Mean (Average) FY24 Part-Time Hourly Rate: Please enter the average hourly part-time rate in this position.
To save a record of your answers:
- Before submitting your survey, click on the "Print" icon to the right of red "Salary Survey 2025" header.
To submit the survey:
- When you have completed all of the mandatory questions in the survey a “Submit” link will appear below the “Save for Later” link at the bottom right of the survey menu page. Your survey is not considered complete until you have clicked “Submit.”
